The Appleton Common Council approved a ban on conversion therapy for young people who identify as L-G-B-T-Q.
The next step is for the city attorney to draft ordinance language.
Once that is complete, it will go before the council for approval and adoption.
The resolution reads, “the City of Appleton seeks to protect L-G-B-T-Q youth by adopting a Youth Mental Health Protection ordinance which prohibits any licensed medical or mental health professional from engaging in conversion therapy with any person under 18 years of age.”
