Manitowoc Lincoln spotted host Pulaski a pair of early 6-point leads…before bouncing back to defeat the Red Raiders…55-43..in an FRCC Boys Basketball game. The coaching matchup brought together Thadd Cornell & Dave Shaw, who were college roommates while attending school at UW LaCrosse. After leading by 7 at the half, 28-21, Pulaski scored the first two baskets of the second half to draw within 28-25. But, the Ships went on a run to lead by as many as ‘17’, before the 12-point margin of victory.
Coach Cornell said their success started with defense. “I thought we played better defense then we have in the past couple of weeks. We had some kids come off the bench and shoot the ball better. Justin Steinbecker had a really nice game tonight, shooting the ball. I think that takes a lot of the pressure off our first 5 kids. I just thought we played a lot better as a team.”
The Ships wound up with 3-players in double figures, led by Mason Dopirak with 17-points, Justin Steinbecker added 14 and Josh Hoffman chipped in 11, as Lincoln improved to 6-&-6 overall, 3-&-5 in the conference. The Red Raiders (0-and-8 and 1-and-10) got 13-points from Bo Bramschreiber.
Lincoln also was a winner in the JV-1 and ‘2 games, 66-56…and 55-46.
The Ships travel to Green Bay Preble on Friday night.
