The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division has discovered that nearly 100 Wendy’s and Fazoli’s restaurants in nine states have violated child labor requirements, and several area restaurants are on the list.
According to a news release from the WHD, the Wendy’s restaurants in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Green Bay, and Ashwaubenon reportedly all allowed “14 and 15-year-old employees to work outside of legally approved hours, and for more hours than allowed by law.”
Wage and Hour Division District Director Karen Garnett-Civils said in the release “Child labor laws exist to ensure that when young people work, the work does not jeopardize their health and well-being or educational opportunities.”
All of the locations are under the same franchisee, based in Louisville Kentucky.
