Manitowoc’s downtown Schuette Building has seen significant progress in restoration work since the project began well over a year ago.
Anton and Michelle Doneff, the building’s owners, recently took us on a tour of the magnificently restored 3 story land mark.
Michelle tells SeehaferNews.com that GRACED is the first retail tenant on the first floor.
She said “The great thing about GRACED is it’s a boutique store, so it has unique offerings that you’re not gonna get at your general store…I think it is gonna be a great addition to not only the Schuette Building, but the downtown in general.”
The ground-floor is available for retail or office users while the 2nd & 3rd stories contain 17 luxury apartments as part of the approximately $7.5 million undertaking.
Anton explains they’re feeling good about the project.
He said there are some finishing touches left to apply, but they are starting to fill their vacancies.
“We are moving in some of our residential tenants on the 2nd and 3rd floor,” he explained, but there are still some spaces available.
We were told that 4 of the luxury apartments are spoken for, and the Doneff’s are marketing the properties, with a Public Open House expected in the future.
Michelle added, she’s also very happy things are coming together, calling it “very exciting” seeing everything come together.
Anton was also asked about the future of the vacant Village Square building at the corner of S. 8th and Franklin, and he said they have been in contact with the city about that property.
He said that they are looking at “how it fits into the overall scheme of this block and the downtown.
