It is no secret that farmers across Wisconsin have been struggling over the past few years.
Part of that can be attributed to the trade war with China, and the reworking of the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico.
However, last week deals were made with China, and the US Mexico Canada Agreement was signed by President Donald Trump, which is making one area farm expert optimistic for the future.
Brody Stapel, the President of Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative and a farmer from Cedar Grove praised the progress made on the USMCA, saying “We should celebrate this as a landmark victory not only for dairy farmers and processors but for our country as a whole.”
He highlighted the fact that the two countries are responsible for about 40% of all dairy sales within the U.S., which adds up to around $2 billion annually.
