The Manitowoc County Historical Society, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will host a homescool program on Thursday, March 26 focusing on historic kitchens. The program takes place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. From helping at the General Store to being a guest in a family’s bustling kitchen, you will learn how to shop, use and measure ingredients, and create recipes.
Guests will sign up for a time slot to ensure hands-on kitchen opportunities at a given time. Time slots will allow for 15 participants at one time, rotating through 3 — 20 minute kitchen demonstrations with the Thompson, Kunze, and Sorenson family. Guests will learn about the family’s cooking traditions and help create a recipe.
Your group may also visit the General Store, Meat Market, and the Two Creeks Town Hall either before or after your scheduled kitchen experiences. The General Store, Meat Market, and Town Hall experiences will take place continuously from 10 am to 2 pm
This special tour experience is self-guided and will allow families to tour and take part in hands-on activities at their own pace. Lunch is not provided, but space will be available in our Town Hall should families wish to bring a lunch.
