With Christmas and New Year’s falling in the middle of the week, students in the Manitowoc Public School District had to go to school for a couple of days in between the two holidays.
As Superintendent Mark Holzman explains, there was a reason they did that, rather than let the children have the full week off.
He explained that during the Christmas season they aim to give the students 7-10 days off because if they went with more, school would go a lot later than anyone really wants it to.
Holzman also said it’s important to get the students and staff back into the routine of school.
“Our kids had been off for about 10 days,” he said. “Sometimes it takes us a little bit to get back into routines.”
Students will also have this Friday and next Monday off, as it is what is referred to as a “Grade and Report Day”, which comes at the end of every semester.
