Officials with the Madison Metropolitan School District say there is broad-based support for tax hikes that would produce more than 350-million dollars for schools. The school board finished a report Monday night on what it would take to get voters to approve such a referendum. Taxpayers would be asked for 315-million for school buildings and 36-million for day-to-day spending. A survey shows 80 percent of the people contacted want to see the district schools fixed. Of course, 85 percent of the people surveyed have children attending Madison schools.
