Sixth district Wisconsin Congressman Glen Grothman gave his thoughts on the drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and Iran’s response by firing ballistic missiles at American bases in Iraq.
The Republican from Glenbeulah sided with President Trump, saying Soleimani was “a bad person who was responsible for hundreds of American deaths. He was planning an attack in the near future. I think President Trump had been very patient. He had watched them shut down a huge amount of the Saudi oil capacity. He has seen many attacks on Americans and didn’t strike. This time we heard things were going to be worse and he finally decided to act.”
Grothman share a little bit of what he learned from briefings in Washington “We had a confidential briefing so I can’t go that much into it but we heard from the Secretary of State, we heard from the CIA and if action was not taken, more American lives were going to be lost so it was the right thing to do.”
Grothman asked, “How many American lives are we going to have to see taken before we take action?”
The congressman was scheduled to fly back to the sixth district yesterday and indicated he plans to attend a celebration of Hmong culture Saturday afternoon at the Rahr-West Art Museum.
