A former official from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will head the U-S Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 office in Chicago.
Kurt Thiede will oversee E-P-A operations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
He succeeds Cathy Stepp, who is resigning.
Stepp is a former secretary of the Wisconsin D-N-R – and Thiede was her chief of staff.
He was with the Wisconsin state agency for 18 years, serving as an assistant secretary from 2015-to-2017.
