Walmart is suing the City of Shawano, challenging the assessment of its property value on East Green Bay Street. Walmart officials say Shawano collected too much property tax.
The city assessed the property at a little over $9.3 million last year. The big-box retailer maintains it’s worth no more than $5.9 million.
If Walmart prevails in court, Shawano would lose about $30,000 a year in taxes. It would also have to pay back that amount which was collected in 2019.
