The Rahr-West Art Museum is preparing to host a celebration of the Hmong Culture on Saturday, January 11.
The Hmong people make up the largest Asian ethnic group in the United States and account for roughly 1% of the population in Wisconsin.
In fact, Wausau has the second largest population of Hmong people, accounting for 9.1% of the City’s population.
As a part of the celebration this weekend, the Rahr-West will feature traditional Hmong dancing, songs, and food.
The festivities will begin at 1:00 PM at the museum and will feature singing by Rena Xiong and traditional Hmong dancing by Anastasia Vue, Rayen Hang, and Gweny Hang.
The Rahr-West’s Hmong Textiles exhibition, featuring loans from the Pick Museum of Anthropology, Northern Illinois University, is open to the public through January 12.
