Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere, is joining two other Republican Senators in backing a proposal to require state and local governments to write all documents in English.
Jacuqe, along with Senators Dave Craig of Big Bend and Steve Nass of Whitewater are seeking co-sponsors for their bill which would make English the state’s official language.
The three say English proficiency is vital to American society – and immigrants who can speak it have a better chance of succeeding.
The same legislation was proposed by Jacque and Craig seven years ago, but it never got a public hearing.
