It seems like the country is more divided than ever in terms of politics. Many Christmas dinners were littered with talks about President Donald Trump, his fellow Republicans, Nancy Pelosi, and the rest of the Democrats. State Senator Devin LeMahieu says that the reason is because of “political theater”. He says that it is frustrating that the national news media almost exclusively focuses on that theater and “even when there is things accomplished at the federal level, it’s not really covered because it’s all about theatrics.”
The national news media has been the target of many arguments, as they seem to continue to stoke the flames of division. LeMahieu says the media runs stories that they feel people want to see, “Even though when you talk to the average person they seem pretty fed up with it,” He noted. “I’m not sure how that works, but I guess that’s why I’m not running CNN or Fox News.”
He did say that things are less divided at the State level, and that things are getting done.
