One of the many things people should have on their New Year’s Checklist is to make sure you renew your pet’s license.
All dogs, cats, and potbellied pigs that are kept as pets are required to have a license, as well as a rabies vaccination that was issued by a licensed veterinarian.
Proof of these licenses must be given to the City to ensure the safety of the residents.
Also, those who own three or more domestic animals must obtain an animal fancier’s permit, which is free when the other licensing fees are paid.
In the City of Sheboygan, the cost of the pet license is $10 for neutered or spayed dogs, and $15 for non-spayed or neutered dogs, while cats are $5.25 and $12.25 respectively.
In the City of Manitowoc, licenses are required for all dogs and cats over the age of 5 months that are kept in the City. Spayed/Neutered animals are $10.00 each, intact animals are $15.00 each, late renewals after March 31 will have an additional $5.00 fee. Residents may license no more than 3 dogs and 3 cats. A 4-animal permit may be granted by application at the Police Department
