Bystanders tried to throw ropes and electrical cords to two children who fell through the ice on a pond last week, but an officer eventually had to go into the wave to help save them.
Mukwonago police say the officer went in when one of the children couldn’t tread water anymore and went under.
Mukwonago Water Rescue personnel then entered the water and were able to pull out the children and the officer.
All three were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover.
