There may have been several people who were arrested for OWI in Brown County last year, but thankfully none of them caused any deaths on the roadways.
Vice President of the Brown County Tavern League, Robert Heinritz reported that there was not a single drunk driving related death in the County last year, something that has never happened.
On top of that, the number of OWI arrested was down 26% from 2018.
Heinritz contributes those stats to better trained bar tenders, who aren’t over serving as much, and the increased use of the SafeRide program that all bars affiliated with the Tavern League offer.
In 2017 1,129 SafeRides were taken, while last year, that number skyrocketed to 4,062.
