Unemployment rates rose significantly in Manitowoc and Manitowoc County last month.
Numbers released by the State Department of Workforce Development show the city’s jobless rate in November was 3.7%. That’s a nine-tenths of a percent bump from October’s number of 2.8% in October and 1.2% higher than November 2018’s rate of 2.5%.
Manitowoc County had a November jobless rate of 3.3%, a half-percent jump from 2.8% in October and a nine-tenths percent increase from last November’s rate of 2.4%.
These mirror the overall state data that show preliminary unemployment rates increased in 20 of Wisconsin’s 33 largest cities and 64 of the state’s 72 counties.
