With the New Year just around the corner, Manitowoc County Register of Deeds Kristi Tuesburg announced a big change in terms of obtaining marriage certificates.
In a news release, she said that as of January 2nd, individuals married in Wisconsin will be able to go to any Wisconsin Register of Deeds office to obtain their marriage certificate.
Previously, people could obtain birth, death and divorce certificates, but now marriage documents are a part of that group.
Tuesburg adds that while not all vital records are eligible for statewide issuance; the State Vital Records Office continues to work with Register of Deeds offices to add or update specific vital records on demand – with the goal of having all eligible records available.
