Bell-ringing efforts to support the programs and services of the Salvation Army will conclude late this afternoon here in Manitowoc.
Tom Drill has been ringing his bell at the corner of South 8th and Franklin Street in front of his little red hut (constructed through the generosity of local builders) since the Red Kettle Campaign began.
Executive Director Jenny Moffitt was out with Tom when SeehaferNews.com spoke with him, and she recalled first meeting the enigmatic bell ringer.
She said that she had only been the Executive Director for a couple of days when her staff asked if she had met him yet. She did eventually meet him, and she called him a “great guy. Out here daily ringing bells for us, whether its cold or snowing, he is out here ringing bells.”
“Mr. Manitowoc” told us that he is out there every day because he feels a personal commitment to the Salvation Army.
Those bell-ringing efforts to benefit those less-fortunate in our lakeshore area will wrap up on this Christmas Eve at 5pm.
