Those who live in the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area have seen a re-birth of sorts over the past few years, with more business calling the Lakeshore home. Local businessman John Jagemann, on the After Further Review Program on 1240 AM WOMT, spoke about how the shift has occurred. He explained that “Economic development and tourism go hand in hand…The Manitowoc Cranes building filling up, downtown revitalization, organizations like Light up the Lakeshore, BizStarts Two Rivers, and Progress Lakeshore are doing the real work of trying to give this place a jumpstart, and getting our businesses going.”
He was joined on the program by Tina Prigge of Coolest Coast, who feels like this area is really starting to grab people’s attention, and that it is going to be the next Door County. “I think people are really starting to sit up and notice…you don’t have to drive all the way up there,” She said. “We’ve got everything going on right here.”
Jagemann also said he believes the best way to ensure this growth continues is by supporting local business because “the next Manitowoc Cranes might already be here, we just need to support it.”
