After an 11-year absence, Manitowoc businessman John Brunner is bringing Bicycle Racing back to Manitowoc. The ‘Maritime Bay Classic’, part of the Tour of America’s Dairyland Series, is set for the city’s near north-side on Monday, June 22nd. Brunner said, “I’m pleased to be able to bring this incredible event back to Manitowoc.” He added, “The time is right and the Enthusiastic climate of the downtown is perfect for an event of this type.”
America’s Dairyland series is 11-consecutive days of bicycle racing, primarily throughout Southeast Wisconsin, during which amateur & professional cyclists compete on closed-course-tracks, also known as Criteriums. As for the renewed Manitowoc stop, there are going to be several races during the day with the Pro race scheduled for 5:30.
Brunner founded the Maritime Bay Classic in 1989 and had coordinated the event each year through 2009. He explains the lakeshore race will be the ‘only’ series stop in Northeastern Wisconsin.
