The Wisconsin Department of Justice is hoping an appeals court will put a court-ordered voter purge on hold.
Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Paul Malloy entered his order to purge 234,000 names from the voter rolls Tuesday.
The appeal was filed immediately.
The case is expected to go all the way to the Wisconsin Supreme Court – which is controlled by conservatives by a margin of five-to-two.
The Democratic Party is working furiously to help voters on the list to make sure they can cast ballots in the future.
