The City of Two Rivers has been trying to bring more attention to their downtown this holiday season, by being more festive with their decorations.
Of course, decorations aren’t cheap, especially when you have to decorate a long stretch of roadway.
In his recent report, City Manager Greg Buckley said that Phase 1 of their fundraising effort was a success, as they raised $25,493 from donations.
Pair that with the $6,148 allocated in the budget for the project, and the city is well above their $30,000 goal.
Phase 1 will see the light poles on Washington Street, from the bridge to 22nd Street adorned with decorations.
The cost per pole was estimated at $500.
Phase 2 will involve hanging banners from the poles at street intersections, a goal they are only $1,341 away from reaching.
And lastly, Phase 3 will involve the addition of two 18 foot Christmas trees at a cost of $18,000, but that project won’t happen until next year.
