Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland has been selected for the second consecutive year as a Top-10 Bellwether Award finalist.
LTC is the only Wisconsin college named as a finalist.
The annual honor recognizes leading institutions of higher learning for having outstanding and innovative programs and practices in community college education.
The local technical school qualifies in the Workforce Development category for College Here & Now, a new initiative that provides high school students the opportunity to earn their associate degree without leaving their high school.
The program began in September as a collaborative effort between LTC, Sheboygan Area School District & Lakeland University.
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen said, “Being recognized as a Bellwether finalist two consecutive years shows the extent to which our faculty & staff are constantly innovating in the name of student success.
He added, We are honored that College Here & Now is considered a national model of excellence.”
A team of eastern Wisconsin educators will attend the Community College Futures Assembly in San Antonio, Texas in February to present their entry to a panel of judges in an effort to win their category against nine other finalists.
