Every time a heavy rain invades Green Bay, reports of high waters come flooding in.
The area most affected is called the flood plain, and there are 37 homes that are directly in that area.
The City of Green Bay is attempting to buy those properties, with the plan of not allowing any more structures to be built there.
In order to fund the project, the City has applied for federal grants, which would cover the acquisition, demolition and incidental costs associated with the homes.
However, anyone living in those homes would be on their own to relocate.
Kevin Vonck, Green Bay’s development director did say, however that they are “not going to go in and force anybody out.”
