Last week Senator André Jacque of De Pere received the Wisconsin District Attorneys’ Association (WDAA) Legislator of the Year award during the Statewide Prosecutors Education and Training Conference in Madison.
Senator Jacque was the sole recipient of the award in recognition for his work with prosecutors statewide on public safety and criminal justice reforms.
These reforms include his work to secure an investment in the state budget to support victims’ rights, retain experienced prosecutors, and add additional prosecutors in counties that were the most understaffed, including four of the six counties in the 1st State Senate District.
Jacque responded to the news by saying that he was proud to have received the honor, and “The massive shortage of prosecutors and the bi-partisan failure to address this issue over the past two decades has delayed healing for victims and treatment for offenders.”
