The City of Manitowoc recently changed their overnight winter parking restrictions on public roads. Mayor Justin Nickels said that in the past parking was not allowed on certain streets between December 1 and March 31 between the hours of 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 am.
Nickels said in the release, “Listening to citizens and realizing this was an antiquated way of doing business, we changed the ordinances to allow for overnight parking.” The new rule only disallows parking if a snow emergency is declared, or City Hall says that the winter parking ban is in place.
The city is also allowing overnight parking in 3 downtown lots during a Winter Parking Ban or Snow Emergency. Overnight parking will be allowed in the Buffalo Street lot, Franklin and 12th (by Post Office) lot, and the Briess lot on Quay Street. Cars must be moved within 24 hours after a parking ban.
The map below shows which streets parking will not be allowed on during a parking ban. The ban will be announced on the City and Mayor’s Facebook Page, as well as right here at SeehaferNews.com.
