Day approaches on Thursday, Dec. 12. Holy Family College had many exciting changes this year, including returning to the name by which it was founded in 1935 by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
The name Holy Family College highlights the College’s Franciscan Catholic identity. The Board of Trustees and Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity supported this change because they recognized the College could no longer be everything to all students; it needed to find a niche. Through research, it was found that other colleges comparable in size who were barely surviving, are now thriving because they focused on leading with faith.
To kick off its return to roots, the College is holding its first Giving Day. This is a day for the entire College community to join and show support by giving generously and confidently guided through faith and commitment to the College.
“Our mission at Holy Family College is to provide an excellent liberal arts education in a faith-based environment to all deserving students,” shared Dr. Robert B. Callahan, president of Holy Family College. “Every gift on Giving Day ensures Holy Family College will continue to provide opportunities for student excellence guided by our Franciscan Catholic values so our students may have access to the resources to become the next generation of Holy Family College alumni and be leaders in their communities and truly make a difference in the world.”
“It’s amazing how deep the needs are in this world. So many people are asking for help this time of the year,” said Father Dave Beaudry, chaplain and instructor of Theology at Holy Family College. “I tell those who ask me what to do, three things – Pray, Choose, Give. My hope is that Holy Family College is one of those choices.”
Exciting activities and challenges will take place throughout Giving Day on Dec. 12, including power hours, such as, the Holy Family College Board of Trustees will match all gifts given between 7-8 a.m. on Dec. 12 up $11,500! Plus, the largest donation made during the 6-7 p.m. timeframe will receive a homemade pie and soup prepared by Father Dave Beaudry. In addition, The Scion Group will match all gifts given by businesses during the 24 hours, dollar for dollar up to $20,000!
Father Beaudry added, “May your giving this holiday season be inspired by love so Holy Family College may continue the work of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, continue to help our students prosper and continue to instill the work of the Lord in their lives.”
