Bail is set at $15,000 cash for an employee of Mishicot High School facing several sex-related charges.
27-year-old Andy L. Coenen of Seymour was taken into custody at his home last night and appeared in Outagamie County Circuit Court this afternoon on charges of sexual exploitation of a child-employ-use-induce by a person under the age of 18, exposing a child to harmful material and soliciting intimate representation from a minor.
The criminal complaint states that a Sturgeon Bay police officer posing as a teenage boy exchanged multiple electronic messages with Coenen who requested photos of “him” on several occasions. The complaint goes on to state that there was “no indication” that Coenen ever tried to set up a meeting with “him.”
Mishicot Superintendent and High School Principal Dr. Paul Orlich sent out a voicemail and emails to parents stating that the district was notified this morning that a high school staff member was taken into custody. The initial email went on to say “To our knowledge, the arrest was made in relation to an alleged situation that occurred off district property and that did not include any Mishicot students. However, as always, we encourage our students and families to report any inappropriate or potentially illegal activities to the Mishicot Police Department by calling 920-755-4041.”
Coenen, a Special Education teacher, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, and Varsity Assistant Football Coach has been placed on administrative leave.
Coenen remains in the Outagamie County Jail with his next court appearance scheduled for December 26th.
