The Manitowoc Area Visitor & Convention Bureau was one of the dropoff locations this fall for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s “Big Bundle Up” campaign. The Big Bundle Up is an annual charity drive that invites Wisconsin residents and travelers to donate warm winter items for those in need. Tourism organizations across the state collect new or gently used warm clothing items that are then donated to local charities.
Jason Ring, Executive Director of the MAVCB says, “The state puts a lot of marketing behind the campaign with a statewide message and in each community, we reach out and put that message out there locally. We were really excited this year, we had over 350 clothing items dropped off at our office.”
Ring explains they dropped off the donated clothing to Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry, Hope House and Incourage, last week. “Everything from hats and scarves to boots, snow pants, coats, you name it. Some things were lovingly handmade others were gently used and others were brand new with the tag still on them. The key element is that they were all warm and will keep people warm for the winter.” Jason added, “it’s really neat to see the community come together to help the less fortunate in our area.”
