Plans are in the works for the city of Two Rivers to get a Culver’s Restaurant in the downtown area.
City Manager Greg Buckley tells SeehaferNews.com that a developer has requested a TIF district grant for the estimated $3 million project. He said that Aaron Abt is requesting to “acquire six properties at the southwest corner of Washington and 22nd to redevelop that corner with a new Culver’s Restaurant.
Abt currently owns a franchise in Galena Illinois and recently purchased the Sturgeon Bay Culver’s as well.
Abt is asking for the assistance of up to $500,000 dollars, including $200,000 upfront, to be paid over a 20 year period from the proposed TIF.
The City Manager explains the proposed Tax Incremental Finance District #13 is expected to be up for a public hearing in January followed by final action from the Council & TIF Review Board.
Construction on the new Culver’s would then begin in 2020.
