Social media has become a great place to find new products and services to purchase. Approximately a third of online shoppers (31%) say they are using social networks to peruse new items to buy.
However, shoppers need to be careful when using sites like Facebook, because according to the Better Business Bureau, there have been an increase in complaints from consumers who have had an unfavorable experience after making a purchase through an advertisement found on a social network.
The most common complaints include misleading advertisements about free trial offers, receiving counterfeit or shoddy merchandise, and poor customer service.
As a general rule, only shop at places with a secure website, which will start with https://, and always use a credit card so there is a paper trail. That way you can file to get your money back.
