The Monday after Thanksgiving, known as Cyber Monday, has become one of the top shopping days of the year.
In 2018, consumers spent a record-breaking $7.9 billion on online purchases on that day alone.
The big issue with online shopping is that it is prime real estate for scammers. The Better Business Bureau has issued some tips to help make your Cyber Monday shopping as safe as possible.
Always be warry of false advertising and phony websites. If a company is selling the hottest item of the year at a price that seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Only use websites with secure addresses. The easiest way to tell is by making sure it starts with HTTPS://.
And always use your credit card online, so if you do get scammed there is a paper trail. That way if you do get scammed you can potentially get your money back.
