Today is Small Business Saturday, when local and state residents are encouraged to support independent businesses during the Christmas holiday shopping season. In the Marketplace at Schroeder’s in downtown Two Rivers is the Read Apple Toy Store.
It’s owner is Pam Duveneck, who said that they “try to find things that are different from the big box store. A lot of our items are unique.”
Duveneck said their goal is to provide fun, learning and playing toys, games, books and puzzles.
She added her store works with vendors who provide samples, so they can open them up and show the customer what they’re getting before a purchase is made. “We have all sorts of things out for the children to try,” Duveneck said.
They also have items that correspond with the increased focus on STEM education, of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
