With Christmas time now officially upon us, lights are starting to go up on houses all over the Lakeshore. One show that always draws attention is the Lights at Lincoln Park.
We spoke with Doug Koch, the lightshow chairman, who gave us a little history of the show, explaining that they have been at it for 8 years. “We started with wild animals of America, three years ago we started with wild animals of Africa, and this year we got some new fish of the seven seas.”
Koch told SeehaferNews.com that even though you may have seen other light shows, this one is different from most because “It’s set in a natural winter setting in the park.” On top of the new aquatic theme, the show will include Christmas music intertwined with animal sounds.
Tonight is the opening night for the show, and will serve as a great way to alleviate the stress from the Black Friday shopping. The lights will be available to view from 5:00-8:00 pm. After tonight the show will run every Thursday Friday and Saturday through December 14th, at a cost of $5 per car.
Also at the zoo, every Friday night until Christmas, Santa will be on hand from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Free cookies, and hot chocolate will be offered, along with photo ops with the jolly, bearded bringer of joy.
