The City of Manitowoc’s Public Infrastructure and Engineering Department have announced that several Lane closures will extend into next week. Department Director, Greg Minikel says work on the eastbound lanes of Reed Avenue between North 4th and 5th Street to replace a water service has been delayed by mid-week heavy rain. The pavement patch has been completed but needs to cure over the weekend. No parking will be allowed on the northside of Reed between North 4th and 5th Streets and the roadway should be reopened sometime on Monday.
Meanwhile, the closure of eastbound lanes on Waldo Boulevard at North 20th Street for an emergency repair of the sanitary sewer has taken longer than expected due to rain and the depth of the sewer and overall ground conditions. The pavement patch is completed but needs to cure over the weekend and additional backfilling and cleanup work will be needed Monday morning.
Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour routes and the roadway is expected to be reopened sometime Monday afternoon and a northbound lane on South 8th street between Jay and Franklin Streets may be closed until Tuesday. Minikel says work performed by Tri-City Glass to install new windows on the former Schuette Building has taken significantly longer than anticipated.
