“She was a little person with a big heart.” Those are the words of Marilyn Sontag of Manitowoc as she described her longtime friend and professional colleague, Katherine (Kate) Miller of Kohler.
Miller died November 16th at the age of 75 after an extended illness. The two of them had worked together at Lakeshore CAP and had known each other for about 45-years. Sontag called Miller a “very good organizer” and her community contributions included MARCO for helping to rehabilitate alcoholics, United Way and sponsoring breakfast events at Painting Pathways Clubhouse.
Miller’s other passions included League of Women Voters, Family Connections and the local Mental Health Association. Sontag added, “She was very instrumental in the United Way. She did so much for them in the 70s that they created an exceptional service award and they gave that to her as the very first recipient.”
She explained that Kate Miller “did things that others didn’t realize….working behind the scenes to make Manitowoc a better place.”
There will be a Celebration of Life for Katherine (Kate) Miller, next Monday at 5 pm at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral & Cremation Care Center in Sheboygan. A visitation is set from 3-to-5pm.
