There are a lot of good things happening for Grow it Forward, a Manitowoc based organization that teaches, inspires and increases the number of local food producers and growers.
Amber Daugs from the organization told us that the Winter Farmers Market is currently going on every 2nd and 4th Saturday through April at their location at 1501 Marshal Street. “Our Winter Farmer’s Market has about 32 producers ,” Amber said. They “sell everything from root vegetables, to fresh greens, to delicious farm fresh meats, eggs, you name it.”
Grow it Forward actually got a very generous gift recently in the form of a former church. Amber told SeehaferNews.com that the St. John’s UCC donated their church to the organization back in July. “
There were approximately 10 active members left of the church when they held their last services in December of 2018,” Amber explained.” But Grow It Forward had been in that building for about 2 years in the shared kitchen downstairs.” They have since renamed the bui9lding St. John’s Place
Amber also told us that they are having a fundraiser this evening. The event, called “Harvesting Support, Friends and Farmers Celebration” will take place at St. John’s Place from 6:00 to 9:00 PM tonight
Those in attendance will be able to sample small plates from local restaurants and caterers, participate in an auction, and enjoy complimentary beer and wine samples, all while supporting a local farmers market. The Ryan Kautzer Polka Band will be providing entertainment as well.
