A garage caught fire in Green Bay last night, and welding sparks are believed to be the cause.
Units were sent to the 300 block of 10th Street just before 5:00 pm to address the fire, and while they were on their way, a new report came in saying that a vehicle had exploded on the scene.
The structure was a two stall detached mechanics garage, and the blaze was emitting from one of the stalls. A vehicle and a tractor that were in the stall were engulfed by the flames but were quickly extinguished by fire crews.
The first stall received heavy damage, while the second had some residual damage as well, totaling around $45,000 worth.
The owner says that he was welding when the sparks landed on and set fire to an unknown material. He attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher but to no avail.
No injuries were reported.
