Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig has released the details of the fatal two semi crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in the township of Maple Grove.
Hartwig says that deputies and EMS personnel were sent to the intersection of County Roads K and W at around 1:40 PM, after reports came in about the crash.
Their investigation determined that a 55 year old man from San Jose California was driving his rig east on K, and failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with a logging trailer, which was being driven by a 27 rural Kiel man.
The 55 year old was ejected from his cab, and pronounced dead at the scene, while the Kiel man was transported to a Green Bay Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
A small fire erupted within one of the engine compartments as well, and roads in the area were closed to traffic until around 6:30 PM.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office are still investigation the incident.
