Classes are scheduled to resume today with extra security in the Valders School District after officials were made aware of a possible social media threat over the weekend.
Valders Superintendent Debra Hunt has sent an email to parents stating a middle school student received a Snapchat message that “threatened violence involving the middle/high school with no date or time mentioned.” The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI have been involved in the investigation, and at this time the threat has been proven to be not credible.
The Sheriff’s Office said it takes every threat seriously, and following standard protocol, the agency plans to have added law enforcement officials around the Valders schools today.
No other information has been released.
