Update: Jerry Duggan General Contractors & Corner to Corner Cleaners and Care LLC have donated $350 to replace the stolen kettle and stand.
LT. Jenny Moffitt of the Salvation Army of Manitowoc County has confirmed with SeehaferNews.com that their Red Kettle that was posted in front of Hobby Lobby has gone missing.
Moffitt told us that all she knows at this point is that “It was there as of 6 p.m. We had a bell ringer there until four, the employees saw it at 6 p.m., and when our drivers went to pick it up at 8 p.m. it was gone.”
She went on to explain that whoever took it must have been determined because they took the entire stand, not just the kettle. Moffitt explained that “That sand is probably 60-70 pounds, so the fact that they took the whole thing is kinda crazy.”
LT. Moffitt said in a prepared statement that “The replacement cost of the kettle and stand is around $350. In addition, the kettle had a bell ringing standing there almost all day, which means the kettle was likely full. We have no way of knowing how much money was in the kettle at the time of its theft. Often kettles will have several hundred dollars in them after a full day’s ringing,”
“It’s a tough situation. If someone is that desperate for money, I would have rather that they came to us for help.” The Salvation Army does have another kettle and kettle stand already out at Hobby Lobby so that bell ringing there can continue. If anyone has any information about the incident, please contact the Manitowoc Police department.
