A Green Bay woman is making progress on her goal of starting a snail farm in Titletown.
Sandy McDonald approached the city’s Plan Commission on Monday in an attempt to get a conditional use permit for the business venture, and she was approved.
The only concern came from a citizen who was worried the farm would stink up the Rail Yard District where she plans to operate, but McDonald assured the Commission that “everything that’s in there can be either composted, used as feed for worms and composting worms.”
If things go well for her, McDonald also said that everything is portable so expansion wouldn’t be difficult.
The farm, which she is naming “Cupid’s Arrow Escargot”, could open up some new menu items for area restaurants who may have had trouble getting snails to serve escargot.
