Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell was narrowly defeated by the Cardinals’ Mike Shildt for the 2019 National League Manager of the Year award.
Major League Baseball made the announcement Tuesday.
Shildt led the Cardinals to the National League Championship Series. Counsell actually got more first-place votes than Shildt, 14-to-10, but Shildt got more total points from the Baseball Writers Association of America, 95-to-88.
