
A decorated radio news reporter in central Wisconsin has died. Carl J. Hilke of Wisconsin Rapids passed away last Friday at Atrium Post Acute Care. Hilke was 64.
He worked for Seehafer Broadcasting station WFHR, starting as a newsman before being promoted to News Director. Hilke’s work was recognized by the Wisconsin Associated Press and Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, and Carl was a Past President of the Associated Press Advisory Board and Central Wisconsin Press Club.
He also received the Community Spirit Award from the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce and Distinguished Citizenship Award from the Wisconsin Rapids Elks Lodge.
Carl is survived by his wife of 34-years, Pamela.
Funeral services are set for Thursday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
