Authorities in western Wisconsin think animal welfare activists are behind a series of vandalisms which damaged several deer stands.
Investigators say the words “the hunters will be hunted” were painted on one stand near New Richmond. The damage was reported in Barron, Dunn and St. Croix counties.
In at least one instance the letters A-L-F were spray-painted on a stand, a possible reference to the Animal Liberation Front. That group claims it destroyed 10 deer stands, saying they are striking directly as those who “murder our nonhuman relatives.”
