With Veterans Day only a couple of days away, many donors will seek to show their respect by contributing to charities that address a variety of issues and needs facing veterans, military service members and/or their families.
The Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance is offering some advice for those who will do so, including making sure you are donating to the place you think you are. Some veterans charities include the same words in different order or slightly different form, so, be alert and make sure the organization you are considering is the one you want to support.
It is also a good idea to do some research on what the charity actually does, and not just make an assumption based on the name. Look for a clear description of the organization’s programs in its appeals and on its website.
