In the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, World War I came to an end. That day was known as Armistice Day, until 1938, when it became known as Veterans Day.
To celebrate our nation’s heroes, a couple of area schools will be hosting public events. Manitowoc Lincoln High School will again have a celebration in the JFK Fieldhouse on Friday, November 8 with several students introducing veterans that are close to them. Doors open at 9:30 AM and the ceremony will start at 10:15.
Also, at Reedsville Elementary/ Middle School Gym, the Reedsville AMVETS Post 1032 will observe Veteran’s Day on Monday. The presentation will begin at 10:00 AM, with a gun salute and TAPS to follow outside the gym at 11:00 AM.
