Four Green Bay Firefighters who died between 1959 and 1973 are now on the Fallen Firefighter Memorial Wall in Colorado, after their deaths were re-classified as line-of-duty. They were re-classified due to any cancer that was contracted due to their work now being concerned a line-of-duty injury.
The four men who were honored are Milton Neuman, who died in 1959, Norbert VandenBranden, who died in 1972, and two men who died in 1973. They are Roman Clark, and James Mommaerts.
Lieutenant David Siegel commented on the recognition calling it “overdue”. He told reporters “One of the very important things I’ve heard from two of the families is that we always thought dad died because of what happened on the job.”
